Our Story — Pogi Pod

Our Story

We were tired of paying more for less.

The story of how two dachshunds — and a lot of frustration — built something better.

Like most dog owners, we wanted the best for our two miniature dachshunds, Poppy and Yogi. So we did what every loving dog parent does — we bought the beds, the toys, the accessories. We spent the money. And time after time, we were let down.

Overpriced. Under-built. Products that looked good on a screen and fell apart in real life. Beds that went flat in a fortnight. Cave beds so stiff and rigid our dogs would push through once, hit resistance, and never go back. And when we looked for support — nobody was there. No accountability. No quality you could actually feel.

"We kept asking ourselves — why is everything in the pet industry either cheap and useless, or expensive and still useless?"

But the real breaking point wasn't the wasted money. It was watching Poppy and Yogi — two dogs with one of the strongest burrowing instincts of any breed on the planet — completely ignored by the products meant to serve them.

Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers and flush vermin from underground tunnels. That instinct hasn't gone anywhere. Every single day, Poppy and Yogi would dig into our couch cushions, disappear under our bedsheets, and burrow into anything soft they could find. It wasn't bad behaviour. It was biology. And yet every bed on the market treated it like something to be designed around, rather than designed for.

The science backs it up

There was also a safety issue nobody talked about. Blankets with holes or folds, gaps under beds, couch cushions dogs disappear into — for a small breed like a dachshund, burrowing into the wrong place isn't just a nuisance. It's a real risk. We'd lose Poppy under the duvet for minutes at a time. We'd find Yogi wedged between cushions at 2am. The burrowing instinct needed somewhere safe to go.

So we built it ourselves.

The Pogi Pod — the first of its kind. A premium cave-style burrow bed engineered specifically for the burrowing instinct of small breeds. Not a rigid dome. Not a flat cushion with a hood stapled on. A genuinely soft, floppy hood that moves like a blanket, so your dog can push through it, burrow under it, and feel completely enclosed — the way nature intended. A blended memory foam fill that contours to their body. A removable, machine-washable inner because real life is messy. And a non-slip base so the whole thing stays exactly where you put it.

We named it after the two dogs who made us build it. Poppy and Yogi. Pogi.

"We didn't just want to make another dog bed. We wanted to make the one that finally got it right."

The Pogi Pod is trademarked, Australian-designed, and built from the ground up for dogs whose instincts the rest of the industry kept ignoring. If your dog burrows, digs, steals your blanket, or disappears under the sheets — this is the bed they've been waiting for. And it's the one we wish we'd had from the start.

Designed in Australia. Built for burrowers.
